manual cam chain tensioners?
 
anybody any advice / experience regarding these on a curvy?how do you go about getting the correct amount of tension?:confused:

dont know but i think its just a locknut thingy. why not just swap for k3 tensioners, it would be a royal pain in the rse getting in to adust manual ones every time it needed doing...

I know how they work but its getting the tension at the correct level setting i'm wondering about.

i have not tried one on the SV, but i had one on 1st gen cbr600 for almost 7 yrs, worked great, i never had to adjust it, though if i had to it was quite easy to do.

as for the correct tension, i was told you make it loose, then keep tightening till the cam-chain "chatter" stops, then you go 1/4 turn more and lock it. not sure how exact this approach is, but as i said, 7 yrs/40K (km) without ever having to think about it... so i guess it is close enough :cool:

just checked and re shimed a couple of valves on my curvy which involves the cam chain tensioners. Are you asking about the original ccts? these dont need setting.
