BIOS password Retrieval

Long story short I am locked out of a BIOS, I need to get back into the bios to change some settings,

I have done the battery out trick, and am currently re building the machine to see if this has worked, failing that there were no reset jumpers on the p200 motherboard.

Does anyone know a legit working bios password tool..

ps the supplier has gone bust so cant get the original from them

Cheers

Alex

I once did this by pulling out a stick of memory (with pc unplugged) then started pc and it noticed the change and let me into bios.

theres usually a little jumper switch on the mobo somewhere to clear the password. (oh lol re read)

whats the manufacturer/ exact Model No of the Mobo ? there should be a way to reset the BIOS even if it's not a traditional Jumper. it may be a switch or there may be a bridge you need to make.

Dropping the battery should do the trick, but sometimes it helps to hit the power switch as well (with the mains and battery disconnected). This should drain all charge on the board and effectively reset the BIOS to factory.

On some of the older compaq boards there was no jumper either, but there was a button carefully hidden on the mobo that did the same thing.

dip switches

Jumper is normal, but sometimes dip switches will do it. Battery out doesnt always work. I used to find taking the bios chip off of the motherboard itself ( if possible ) would sometimes reset the bios back to factory defaults, but it is a piece of p*ss to damage the chip so be careful !

managed to clear the password using the battery trick... re flashed the bios but the damn thing still wont let me re install windows as it is telling me the hard drive isn't present, its usually down to a sata setting in the bios but there isnt one... oh ffs..

You sure the HDD is a good one? Plugged power in (all the basics)? If the power is in can you hear it spin up when powered up?

Are there no options in the bios to show what SATA drives are connected?
