Braided hoses - Which or dont bother?
 

Hi all

Wanna treat my baby and was thinking brakes. They work fine but would like a bit more bite/feel. Been reading through some threads and seems HEL can cause some problems.

Are braided hoses fairly easy to fit?
Are Goodridge the way to go, what would you recommend?
Or, if its not broke dont fix it and spend the dough on petrol?

Hel are better than goodridge IMO, better price and all stainless steel . Goodridge you have to pay extra for alll ss fittings all over.

How many bits do you need to buy when replacing brake lines? :confused:

loads beter than stock, get hell and get the race kit comprises of 2 line both join the master cylinder with a dobble banjo bolt and run to each caliper seperatly

fitting is the easy part its bleeding them that can be the pain

if you are going to go with braided lines i would strip the calipers down a well and clean thepistons and check the seals and grease the pistons with red rubber grease

i have these, they are the same as hell but are rebranded and made by the sellers on ebay (they also make custom lenght lines) Link

I used to do services on cars as a youngster. Is it the same process of pump brake pedal fast, hold, then release bleed valve (or whatever its called) and repeat until air is out?

I have goodridge on mine, they can be expensive with the fittings but i like them.
Cost about £80-£90 for front, cant remember exactly.

I`m sure I have, or had, trade accounts with Hel and Goodridge, i can see about prices if ya want.

Although from previous experience, some companies dont give much discount unless you spend a fortune, which I didn`t.

£60 odd for stainless hoses & stainless fittings mine were goodridge but hel were only a few quid cheaper (that's for the front).
Bleeding's pretty straight forward (aslong as you understand the technique you're using) and fitting's a piece of pish. Copy how your existing ones are routed (leave them in for as long as possible during the fitting process)

Make sure you specify your exact bike when purchasing (including whether it's naked or 's'!)

btw IIRC your bike is 2009? oem lines are good for 2 years (might be five actually). If it's 09 (sorry if I'm wrong) I'd try just a fluid change first or maybe some sintered brake pads a fluid change and a clean up of the calipers, save a little dough.
