Bike fell off my stand, wonky fairing
Hi all,
I passed my test on Thursday and treated myself to a 2009 SV650 sport. When I got home today, I parked it and then moved it forward an inch as it was touching the wall, and of course the stand went with it. I'm totally mortified :( So, loads of bits damaged, but the worst is that the left fairing is now flush against the frame, whereas the other side sticks out about 40mm. Is there an easy fix for this? Looks like the bracket is bent. I have pics: Left (bent) side http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/6205/img0619h.jpg Right (straight) side http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/4713/img0620sp.jpg Other damage was: The clutch lever was bent but that bent back into place. The bar end is bent (the long screw that holds it in is bent) The gear shifter broke, but I have drilled a hole in it and putt a bolt through with the old rubber on, so it works, got a new one coming Weds. Lower fairing is all scratched. I could have cried to be honest. :( |

Worst one was dropping a 4x2 on the tank |

Cheers :)
Just fixed the bar end, nothing a hammer couldn't fix there. Just worried about this fairing now. |

Hi,
Did the same thing last year..just remove the fairings and gently tap out the brackets it worked for me. Quote:

Cheers ty that's what I was hoping.
Is it easy to remove the fairings? Does the lower one come off on it's own? I can see 4 bolts to remove it I think. |
Re: Bike fell off my stand, wonky fairing
just remove all 4 bolts and slip it out from top fairing..lower fairing joined at the bottom with plastic pins which i could not remove but was loose enough to get a mallet behind and tap bar back out

it seems to be the main curved bracket that would normally be where a crash bung would go, is this the one you straightened? Did it require much of a whack or was it more of a progressive tap? :) |
Re: Bike fell off my stand, wonky fairing
progressive tap, just take your time and should look like new again

Re: Bike fell off my stand, wonky fairing
Thanks for your patience, I'll have a go at that tomorrow then :)

Re: Bike fell off my stand, wonky fairing
yep the crash bung bracket is the one that takes the impact in a drop
