Side stand cut out in neutral?

I recently tried wiring a neutral light in off the loom using an led with a built in resistor and it worked fine but then as I was working on other parts I snapped the leg of the led and I think it either shorted or kept sparking or something and now that doesn't work and my bike stalls if I put the side stand down even in neutral. Did I blow some fuse somewhere?

have you removed the parts you spliced in and tried?

Yes in the end i gave up with them and made sure everything was insulated with tape and everything. Its the way the line just seemed to stop working that confused me!

have you looked at the switch on the stand.

They can stick in a position due to being blasted with road sh*te

Well that switch operates fine. It cuts the engine out, yet it never used to do so when the bike was in neutral.
Thats my issue.

It means I cant let the bike warm up whilst putting on my gear. Also when I come or go I have to open the door before I start to warm the bike up not a huge nuisance but when I get back I have to turn off the bike (as I have to sit the bike on the stand) to open my garage door, but it is sloped up into my garage so I drive the bike back in meaning I have to start the bike again and then stop it again I'd rather not have to do that to my battery/bike if I don't have to.
