Indicator mirror flashing too fast.
iv just fitted a pair of indicator mirrors to my sv using resisters and they are flashing like crazy. The resistor was pluged in on the positive side of the circuit. I know a little about electrics but not loads. Has anyone got any ideas?

Re: problem with indicator mirror...
Same principle different application, but, works all the same

Re: problem with indicator mirror...
can anyone put that into simple form? I got so confused it was unreal.

Re: problem with indicator mirror...
Simple answer - ditch the resistors, get a new flasher relay.
Not that difficult to fit and wont just sit there making heat... |
Re: problem with indicator mirror...
The person who designed the indicator circuit decided to be clever, by making the relay flash faster if one of the bulbs has gone. So when the power consumption drops the indicator goes faster.
LED indicators consume almost no power, so the indicator relay thinks the bulb has gone and starts flashing like fury. Connect a resistor across the LED to waste some power and the indicator thinks you've got a working bulb and flashes normal rate. Hope this helps, Keith. |
Re: problem with indicator mirror...
when you say across Keith do you mean bridge between positive and negative? Or just have it on the positive side?

Re: Indicator mirror flashing too fast.
The indicator connector has two wires coming from it.
Connect the +ve to the one end of the resistor and the +ve of the indicator Connect the ground (usually black) to the other end of the resistor and the -ve of the indicator. Keith. |

All done and dusted. Working a treat now :D thanks for the help :)
