Stalls after going into gear.
I changed the sprockets and chain last night, and it all looked good until I turned the bike on and tried to put it into 1st gear. The bike immediately stalled!!! I must have missed something somewhere, please help

Re: Stalls after going into gear! Please help!
sounds like something to do with the side stand switch maybe a wire has come off when you were changing the front sprocket

Re: Stalls after going into gear! Please help!
That might be it! Cause I'm sure I put it all back right, I followed the haynes manual, cheers for the advice!

Re: Stalls after going into gear! Please help!
It could maybe be the clutch dragging. Did you readjust after changing the front sprocket? To test, put the bike in first gear with the engine off and see if you can push it easily with the clutch in. If not, readjust clutch as per Sid Squid's regular posts on the subject.

easy check for the sidestand switch, just give it a bit of beans on the gas with clutch in as you put it in first. if it still cuts out it'll be the switch...

Re: Stalls after going into gear.
lol...cheers guys.
it was the side stand afterall, the side stand leg was not pushing in the switch, just needed some good oiling. Checked the clutch too, needed adjusting...Haynes manual the rescue again! Now rides nice and smooth. I have another question for you tech heads tho. the locking washer on the front sprocket, I've not been able to bend it back down over the locknut. Has anyone else had this problem? |
