HID light modification SV650 04 questions.
Afternoon.
Just have a few questions about HID kits for pointy SV's Is it normal for just one bulb to be fitted as it covers both dip and high beam? Is it worth fitting 2 or will it melt the clear plastic cover? Do I have to do to a specialist to find the correct wattage and fitting bulbs? Thanks for your time, hope these are easy questions :D Rob |
Re: HID light modification SV650 04
Just fit them, they put out less heat than halogen.
You get a ballast and a H4 bulb, they come in main/dip flavour so just put them in, they work in the same way as stock really. They just have a relay to operate the solenoid to dip them (actual bulb shield moves to raise beam rather than having an extra filament) |

Ah right ok.
When you say ballast would this be in place of the bulb on the left side or should one be fitted? They seem to make a slight buzzing sound constantly (like a quiet fuel priming system when you turn the key) is this normal too? Thanks for your help Chris. Rob |
Re: HID light modification SV650 04
No the ballast is the electronic control and transformer, they make a slight buzzing yes, more on start up. You mount this bit somewhere out of the way. Then the lamp/bulb/capsule fits in where the normal bulb does.
Some people use one HID one halogen, you can use a HID in both sides no problem. (I would) |

Ahh cool, I understand.
Might pop out when I've picked the bike up and get a fresh bulb then. Thanks so much for your help mate. Rob |
Re: HID light modification SV650 04 questions.
I thought I was done with these questions but I've got one more!
The HID kit which installed on the SV 650 that I'm getting seems to have a round light tube around the bulb which is powered by an LED and used as a side light, is this normal for these kits and is that easy enough to replace aswell? Cheers, Rob |
Re: HID light modification SV650 04 questions.
No it's not normal, who knows... I've never seen one. Personally I wouldn't bother with chav stuff like that, just use normal sidelights.
