Heel plate options?
Hey all,
So i have just gotten an SV650S 2004, superb condition i may add. My problem is the previous owner stuck on some really bad quality carbon fibre stickers. I wanted to get some decent looking heel plates, the problem is the ones i have seen don't look right at all, the right side is one large solid unit, however the one you can buy are tiny triangles, and the left side is again a solid unit, the ones you can buy are again, tiny triangles. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
Re: Heel plate options?
The standard footrest/heal-plates are all one unit.
Your only options are after-market rear-sets or some kind of covering, (vinyl/carbon etc), get them polished, or to paint/powdercoat them a colour of your choice. Any pictures of what's already on there? |
Re: Heel plate options?
The Curvy has separate heel plates, the Pointy does not.

Re: Heel plate options?
I want to cover my heal plates as they have worn down to bear metal :(

Perhaps your heal plates will get better.

Re: Heel plate options?
I stripped and polished my heel plates and they look lovely now. A friend has offered to mill them out if I wished, but I quite like them as they are now.

Re: Heel plate options?
How did you strip them Jayne, did you strip the yoke as well?

Re: Heel plate options?
I did it all by hand, I started by filing off the casting marks until they were smooth and then I set to with wet and dry paper. Started with some quite course and worked up to fine, I also used wire wool at times to take out scratches. Finally polishing was done with a polishing mop in a hand drill and polishing soap.
