re tapping exhaust lug

the threads are fooked after to days drilling session so what size should i tap the lug to

considering it M8 now i was thinking m10 but that would only leave 3.5mm of material each side of the bolt, is that enough ?

OD is 17mm id would be about 10mm (m10)

or should i use a helicoil

Re: re tapping exhaust lug

But think about it you are putting helicoil in, it doesn't matter what you use, tap and coil it 5/16UNF if you want so long as you use a bolt to match

I know I said bolt above, but I prefer studs, stronger for same engagement and easier to remove if they are seized
