Brake light not working.
 

Just taken my rear fairing off to fit a tail tidy and I think I caught the wire to the brake light (probably being too rough) now my rear light works but does nothing when the brakes lever or pedal is touched.

Any suggestions? Or do I need a new light unit? Of so where can I get one quickly? Need the bike next Thursday to go away.

Check all disturbed connections first, make sure the plugs are all inserted fully. Then check that there's voltage at the rear light plug on the loom when the lever/pedal is operated.

All the plugs are inserted. Not got a volt meter, but I'm pretty sure it was where the wires go into the light unit that i pulled, so I think it's made a loose connection inside. Maybe time to take advantage and get some clear lights?

Ahhhh still not working. Any more suggestions?

Have you tried wiggling the wire while holding the brake lever? May determine whether it's a lose connection inside... Hopefully not too loose that it won't make a conection.

Aquired a new unit and it's the same problem. Trying to chase the wires back on the loom but it's a nightmare!

Tommy, you really need a meter !!
Cheaper to buy a basic meter than keep swapping parts when you don't need to ;)
Seriously, a meter will help you find where the break is, the braking circuit won't be that complicated.
Live feed to brake (s) switch, switch live at / from switch to light is basically what it is.
You can get a cheap meter for a tenner.

Yup. That's on the list then. Found the break. Hiding under the tank of all places miles away from anywhere I touched!
