Reg/Rec CBR unit OK?
I booked b&b in Wales Friday night for Saturday, looking forward to going on the bike. Come sat morning bike didn't start so went in the car instead :( Hope to make up for it this weekend!
Done a quick test but going to double check everything toinght with multimeter but can anyone please confirm that this is a good replacement - after searching I think this is the one most people seem to suggest. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Rectif...item2eb8b67b3c Thanks. |

Or this one? Looks the same to me. The CBR one isn't 2007+ so thats a no no i think. |
Gsxr reg rec was delivered today. It's connectors are slightly different. Is it ok to take them off and swap em over?http://img.tapatalk.com/5c18f708-6755-6ce7.jpg

Well swapped them over although should buy some new spades as they weren't exactly the same. Battery has been charged so bike did start but reading across the terminals was 11.5 when idle and 11.5 at 3k rpm. Something not quite right there :(
Turning into a bit of a commentary this but at least I can retrace my steps! |
Re: Reg/Rec CBR unit OK?
I have a feeling CBR reg/recs may have been discussed once or twice on here, do a quick search. Should help you.

I have but not dumbed down enough for me :) trial n error thrown in with the info I found and learning along the way.

Re: Reg/Rec CBR unit OK?
I seem to remember a while ago there was huge discussion/internet battle about reg/recs as far as i can remember there is nowt wrong with the standard one but the CBR one is a popular replacement.

Re: Reg/Rec CBR unit OK?
There are very many threads regarding RegRec failure on bikes in particular Triumph Street Triples made 2007-10 failure rate VERY high, just changed mine. The following link makes very "good" reading and IS very adaptable and the SV is mentioned several times, may be of use.

Re: Reg/Rec GSXR unit OK?
New battery in and the GSXR reg/rec on. Checked as much of the electrical system as possible. Checked the power from alternator, checked the voltage at stator, done diagnosis as the electrosport chart but still getting no charge! There was a 0.08a drain from the fuel system (stopped when fuse removed) but from a search over on svrider this seems normal. It must be a loose connection somewhere i think.
More info.... The day before it wouldn't start I adjusted the clutch and rear brake light switch. Could i have disturbed some crucial wiring in the process?? Another possible clue, I rode it yesterday with fully charged battery in hoping a 20min ride may produce some charge, I had a full tank but fuel light came on. Any ideas? I am flummoxed!! |
