Removing glue marks on dash surround?
I stuck my heated grips controller to the black plastic on the left of my rev counter with super glue because the adhesive that came with it kept coming off. Today I peeled the controller off because I have some new heated grips but it left loads of super glue stuck to the plastic. I tried getting it off with nail polish remover but that just made things worse. Now I'm left with a messy stain next to my rev counter.
So what are my options? All I can think of is sticking the new heated grips controller over it to cover it, or stick a sticker over it. Both which I don't really want to do. Any ideas Orgers? http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg138...pg&res=landing yuk yuk yuk :puker: |
Re: Made a bit of a mess...
Remove all the black plastic surround, buy another one, fit the new one. Works 100% every time.
;) Sorry Im sure someone with a more reasonable solution will be along soon enough. |
Re: Made a bit of a mess...
You may be right. With Superglue you get a chemical bond between surfaces, not just some sticky glue that can be removed.
What material was the grip controller surface made of? |

Re: Made a bit of a mess...
Try a good car trim reviver such as autofinesse revive, or there's a plastic renovator called plasti Kote which comes in spray or liquid form, available on eBay £15 a tin cheaper than a new thingy. Make sure and clean well first.

Re: Made a bit of a mess...
These surrounds sometimes come up on fleabay for around £20. It doesn't affect the function of the bike so I'd be inclined to leave it as it is (says the man with a gold CNC clutch cover with a window in it )

Re: Made a bit of a mess...
Thanks for the help. Decided to just stick the heated grip controller over the messy part. Doesn't look as bad as I first thought it would. Thanks again for the help!

Try a little petrol on a rag that's quite good at removing stickers lol
