Clutch case stuck in place.
My clutch is causing problems so I want to check the springs and plates for wear.
This evening I drained my oil and coolant so was feeling a bit smug because I'm not so good at this kind of thing. Then I removed the 14 bolts from the clutch cover but it won't budge. Have I missed something somewhere or is it just seized from age? In which case how do I free it up? Bike is a 2004 K4 650S on about 25k miles. |
Re: Crankcase wont come off
Give it a gentle tap with a soft headed hammer from different directions, its just stuck with age

Kk just been out again and tried that but no luck, it's still stuck fast. Can I use something like wd40?

Re: Clutch case stuck in place.
Did you keep all the oil and coolant? If so, stick it back in and run the engine till its warm amd try again.

Re: Clutch case stuck in place.
have you removed all bolts? i think one of them goes though the waterpump as well.

Re: Clutch case stuck in place.
I had the same problem last year on a Suzuki GN125 and still dont know why it wouldn't come off. I know this doesn't help but at least you know its not just your cover that is stuck!

Re: Clutch case stuck in place.
Does the SV have dowels on the clutch cover? If it does you'll need to be pulling equally on all sides, tilt it at all and you'll get headache lockout.

Thanks for all the replies. I finally got it off, I found the metal tab underneath and hit it with a hammer then it wiggled lose with some effort.
