GSXR front end speedo drive questions.
So i have been thinking about doing the GSXR front end swap for sometime now but i wanna make sure eveything is spot on in my head before i start investing.
So the big problem i have been reading is the speedo. Is it possible to do the front end swap but use the SV1000 speedo? If so how do i fit an SV1000 speedo to a 650, if not, why not? Cheers Si |
Re: Question about speedo swaps
heheheeeee. my kit almost done :-)
you have to drill/tap the sprocket shaft to use GSXR/SV1000 etc.etc speedo drive and the pulse don't work with later gen SV as it has 8 |
Re: Question about speedo swaps
here is a rough (test piece) of what it will look like:

Re: Question about speedo swaps
When I did my front end swap I had the speedo problem too...
I've got a K4 SVS and use a gear tooth sensor connected to the existing wiring and use 4 magnets in the recesses of the disc on the front. It gives an accurate reading and has been reliable for months now :) Very pleased with the overall result HTH |
Re: Question about speedo swaps
yup that works perfect but you have to keep buying OEM discs as most of the aftermarket ones have odd number of bobbins.

Re: Question about speedo swaps
If you're careful you can put the pickup inside the front mudguard - by far the neatest solution.
