Scorpion SS, removing baffle cause running problems?
 

Hello, I'm thinking of getting a scorpion can with removable baffle and running it without it in, I realise this can cause problems on some bikes cos of the change in back pressure.

Anyone know if I did this on my curvy-s, if I'd need to get the bike tuned to allow the engine to work with it properly - or prevent problems.

Ideally I'd just like to fit it and be done with it ;-)

you should'nt have any problems i've fitted one to my pointy and have no problems at all. the only time you may need your fueling looked at is if you fit a performance air filter aswell. your scorpion can will sound great on your curvey and pop nicely on the over run! enjoy :D

Not true... Pointies have Fuel Injection which will rectify itself (to a certain degree) & it will runn correctly with minor changes, curvies have carbs which don't have the ability to rectify themselves...

If you want it to run 'baffle out' it'll need some work done & perhaps Dyno'ing ;)

i put a can on my cbr with no fueling problems thorght sv would be the same.

CBR has less engine braking, a smaller engine, 2 more cylinders. which='s less back pressure on scavaging the exhausted gases out, so less problems. :?

Stubby high level scorpion on mine (tis a curvacious one), with no baffles in the can, nor any of that faff in the collector either (mr holesaw made an appearance). Runs fine. You can get away running a can by itself on most SV's (I'd hazard a guess at 95% being ok). Its only when messing about with the induction side of things you will tend to run lean. With a standard air filter, and the pipe, mine is still running slightly rich in the midrange.

P.S. The SV's FI system has no provision to "self correct" itself. Tis a common myth.

Put a Viper race can on my curvy, no other mods' and it works fine! If you're at all concerned, get it on a dyno' and have them set up the carbs' for you.

i had a scorpion race can on my curvy and it ran fine and now i have a remus revolution on my K5 and that runs fine but dynoing is the only way to get it set up right
as for the fuel injuction models rectifying their self i don't think they do because there are no lamda sensors on the exhaust so no way of the ecu getting a reading (i stand to be corrected though)

Ive got a ccc race can on my curvy. Had it dyno'd, fuelling was fine and it made an extra 3bhp and 0.5ft-lbs of torque.
