Oxford Hothands How To!
Here is a How To of How i have fitted my hot hands to my SV, Thor told me about the fuse box connector
Here goes HOW TO FIT OXFORD HOT HANDS TO A SV650 K3+ DISCLAIMER: As always, it is the owners decision to modify his/her bike. I submit this modification under a blanket policy that states that liability is solely that of the owners and no one elses. This is only a guide of how i fitted my Oxford Hothands not how Oxford tell you to fit them. i wanted to wire them in so they can only be turned on when the key is switched on the the Ignition. so people cant switch them on and drain your battery when you leave the bike. Here is the Basic Equipment needed: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...othands010.jpg You need to remove both seats and lift up the tank, you now need to cut off the connector on the red wire and strip it http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...othands001.jpg You now need to turn the fuse box upside down to reveal the spare wire slot in the fuse box http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...othands003.jpg get your small flat head screw driver and prise open the connectors in the slot, place the red wire from the hot hands into the slot and use the screw driver to close the connectors onto the wire. now connect the negative wire to the battery and plug in the switch (i had not hidden the wires yet) now check to see if the green light is on. (the bike must be turned on) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/xvs/c7cb453f.jpg if thats all ok, turn the bike off and tuck the wires into the rear plastics and under the tank after you have attached the switch to the handle bars (i placed mine in the middle because it is easiest for me) wrap the hothands around the grips, turn on the bike and run it to see if they work (the green light must be on to tell you they are working) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...othands007.jpg put the tank down (try not to trap any wires) and bolt the seats back on. Enjoy! |
On the pointy there's a spare slot on the underside of the main fuse box. On the K3 it's under the main seat, on the K4 it's under the pillion seat.
