Tiscali broadband
 

a question to anyone who has tiscali broadband, do you keep loosing your connection? some days my connection will be fine and then others it'll drop the line for now real reason :( this is a pi$$a when your downloading large files.
at the bottom of the screen by the clock you have a green triangle when the b band strenth is good, when the connection is dropped the triangle goes red then yellow then green so i can re connect again, is this a lack of bandwidth?

ok any broadband that uses a normal bt line ASDL i think :? not cable.

I'm on tiscali too, best connection I've ever had. Maybe half a dozen dis-connects since moving up to BB last October.

If you float the cursor over the connection status icon (looks like two monitors, one flashes) it states your best line speed. (Mine being 2.2Mbps) In reality you're usually a bit below this most of the time. eg. 1.8Mbps is doing well for me.

You can then check your bandwidth here. Do the test a few times over a couple of minutes to get an average.

u using the thomson modem haggis? i'm on the sagem one i just get the green triangle, i think i know what your on about and its with the thomson modem my daughter has that one on her pc.

1945.3 kbps on a 2.3mbps connection.

Yeah, Thompson Speedtouch 330.

If yours is theoretically 2.3 and you're getting 1.9 regularly I'd say that's pretty good. Are you quite a way from the exchange? This makes a big difference to as I believe you're first to get disconnected in such cases. :( I could be wrong. Any comms engineers on here?
