Pins & Needles in Hands

Hi Folks,

Bit random but hoping you can help. Over the last few days, I have noticed that I am getting pins and needles in my hands when riding. Can this be from gripping too hard or from a bad wrist angle? I can usually get rid of it by just shaking my hands out at lights but I'm getting worried I might be doing something serious.

Anyone else experienced this or something similar?

Seems quite common on the SV mate. I used to get it when I first had my SV but it wore off eventually.

I get this too but after a long time on constant throttle (motrway treks). Try taking a bit of weight off your wrists by gripping the tank with your knees or resting your chest on the tank. Of course this means you now get sore thighs/back or a stiff neck so you have to keep swapping between positions.

Have you got bar end wights (steel ones)?
Balenced the carbs recenty?

Don't hold on too tight. Also, keep the blood flowing by moving your fingers around.

Eat bananas :cyclopsani: potassium does something that prevents cramps, numbness, so I've been told, (someone medical will probably shoot me down [-o< :smt072 )

Yeah I get it too, also right hand goes numb after a while so I rest my fingers on the brake lever.

I get it some days but not others... Got it today for the 1st time this week.

Undo the the clutch and brake levers and rotate them round the bars. Somewhere out there is an article that tells you the right angle to set them at.

I've got mine set so I have a straight line from my elbow, through my wrist. It really does make a difference.

Also as others have said try and relax your grip on the bars. Fitting heavier bar end weights may or may not help.

HTH.

i had this once after doing the a34 at a constant 80mph....hurt like hell!

but shook it off.

just relax more and take hands off bars quickly every now and then....pref not both at same time.
