Need advice on front suspension
I know this has prob been covered many times, but I cannot believe how easy the forks bottom out over an uneven surface, what is the quickest/easiest/cheapest way to improve this without upsetting the ride quality or handling too much? :o

Re: Need advice on front suspension
new progressive fork springs and thicker oil, hyperpro do a kit and hein gerike sell it aparantly.
I will be doinfg said mod in the winter ( well that could be now to be honest) as well as changing the rear shock spring and raising the back end via dog bone change. |
Re: Need advice on front suspension
Your right, it's been covered loads of times. Try using the search function, you will find loads of information on the subject. If you still have some questions, they you can ask and get more specific answers.
Try things like 'fork springs' ' fork oil' etc |

I have a naked SV with standard spring and more or less standard viscosity and it definitely doesn't bottom out(that easily) as plenty of folks seem to find. Thicker oil is not necessarily better especially with standard springs. The Hyperpro kit comes with oil included but who knows what the actual viscosity is. They do tend to run some funny air gaps though(I think). Ben |

They work tho. One point tho, they dont HAVE to be Hyperpro Progressives, its what I got but only really because they do a front and rear spring set,and they were fairly easy to get. Plenty of manufacturers of fork springs out there. I am very happy with my Hyperpro's, but I havent tried the others. |
Re: Need advice on front suspension
I have just done hyperpro progressive springs on the front, Nitron rear shcok, and 30mm Janck up Bandit mania dog bones.
It improves the ride no end. Also I am 5ft 11" and the bike is now the perfect height for me. Well worth the outlay, |

You always need to allow extra room for potholes and general freakiness on a road of course, on a track it's a known environment and you can tailor your springs to the travel needed. |

There are a few factors to consider before choosing the correct route as far as springs, oil weight and air gap go. |
Re: Need advice on front suspension
Exactly... Believe it or not there's some freakos on this site who'er actually light enough for the OE springs :) Though the "average" SV rider does start to benefit from stiffer ones. I bet you a shiny pound that your forks aren't bottoming out though, unless you're mahoosive.
