Any Gixer owners!

Test drove a Gixer 750 at the weekend, and am very tempted. Only down point was the less than responsive rear brake. Is this typical, or just the used example I test rode?

Any feedback greatly appreciated as always!
Phil.

The brake its self won't be any weaker than the SVs. I found the SV rear brake weak, until I greased the lever pivot. I also found the rear brake on my 6R weak, until I removed the return spring which was far too powerful. Or it could simply need bleeding.

Rear brake is OK on my K6, not the best in the world, but gives me enough feedback for slow speed stuff. But it does need a fair push :)

ditto

btw are you really looking to make a decison about a new sports bike based on the rear brake?! ;)

Use the rear for putting round anyway nothing more

Aye OK, the front brake is excellent...but I do use the rear a lot and often, slow speed stuff in trafic, loosing that extra couple MPH when I've overcooked a corner, and acually coming to a complete halt.

This bike is going to have to last a long time so it has to be the right choice, and something that works for commuting, fun rides at weekends, and the odd bit of touring.

The rear brake is pretty weak you've got to stamp on it hard to lock the rear at <10mph.

I've had my 750K6 since march now, done around 7000 miles including 250 over two trackdays and 4 laps of the nurburgring. Top peice of kit, best compromise for road and the track imho.

Morning all.
Most sports bikes seem to have a rear brake that appears to be fitted to comply with the road traffic act, rather than to slow you down. On some models it's woeful to say the least.
A braided hose, & high friction pads can help get a little more out of them, but it'll remain barely adequate in most cases.

Cheers.
