Fitting Braided hoses

Hi

I recently bought some braided hoses from ebay,

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWN:IT&ih=006

The rear one fits like a glove exactly the same length as the rubber one. But the front hoses are about 6 inches longer that the older rubber ones.

Anyone else find the same problem? Do i stop moaning and tuck the extra hose inside the body. Another biker friend of bike said they might even be ment to be tucked inside the forks but that seems wrong.

Thanks

Chris

As you mention the body I presume you have an S model not the nekkid one.

Its a common mistake if you have an SV650S and buy hoses for an SV650, the lower clip on bars of the "S" model leave a lot of slack in the hoses if you get the ones meant for a nekkid.

They'll still work fine so long as you can route the hoses so they aren't snagging, chaffing, kinking or anything else, remembering that some slack is needed to allow for fork compression/extension, and any movement when turning if you're routing hoses inside the fairing.

As for tucked inside the forks

If you ask goodridge nicley they might shorten them for you. My Earls rear brake line was way to long on the SV and as they are a local company to me I poped in and they shortened them there and then.

Is it right that you only get the rear hose from the pedal to the caliper? Isn't there a conflict, for want of a better word, with the tube from the pedal to the cylinder being rubber still? Or am I being thick...again!

Yeah both hoses only go from the piston to the calipers, no point putting braided hoses between reservor and piston.

Thanks to all your replies gonna go have a play as soon as possible (after i fix my sisters car that is!)

The hose from the reservoir to the master cylinder isn't a pressurised hose, no need for expensive replacements - unless you require bling of course :)

Hi guys, turns out the hoses are race length. So they are fitted direct from the piston rather than going via a joining pipe. Which does explain why there were less bolts than i was taking off. So should be no problems and more importantly no slack now!
