Just my opinion, I don't know what the word for it is, but I'm the opposite of a hoarder (sp). If I'm not gonna use something it may as well be in the bin. So a spare engine is useless to me, I don't have the room to keep it, no inclination to learn how to fix it and can't be arsed to wait/get someone else to fix it if it went wrong.
I'm not saying you're wrong but I wouldn't want a useless (to me) bike sitting about. I'd rather spend more and get a well looked after, lower mileage bike, that IMO has a higher probability of working for longer  . Plus curvies look better so it's a no brainer really  .

I don't think you've understood YC. You can't buy a decent Curvy for £600. Also you don't have to have a spare engine sitting around in your way, just that if anything happened to this 70K miler you could afford a replacement engine and it would still be cheaper than a Curvy
