Can anyone confirm which way round fork oil seals should go:
Should the side with the visible ring-like spring be facing up or down? Bike is a K4 SV650s. Thanks. |

Generally with any seal, you want to insert it into whatever recess it fits, that contains the stuff you don't want to loose spring side first.
As you will probably need to tap it in, you do not want to damage the sealing lips by putting them in contact with whatever you use as a drift etc. so markings face out.

Cheers Tim, always helps to know why you should do something a particular way: I find it helps me remember it in future.

if you lok at the seal it'll have a lip on one side and a channel on the other, the seal works with oil pressure so the channel is filled with oil and the more pressure on the seal the better it seals (most of the time)
