Default Speedo sensor rear wheel

Hey guys, just looking into this as I'm starting to grab the parts for a GSXR front conversion.

I've found conflicting info about how easy it is to put the stock speedo on the rear wheel. Using the search function, I found this article:
http://www.socalsvriders.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10167 which says it basically slots right in, no need to do anything else apart from shim out the caliper so it still fits the disc.

However, I'm sure that I've read somewhere else that something needs to be ground down to make it all fit together correctly. Can't seem to find that particular how-to now, but it was a picture-by-picture guide if anyone else happens to have seen it

The second thing is that I'm looking at doing this conversion before actually getting the front-end, just so that I can drop it straight in in one go. Since the article above states that the sensor can be put straight into the rear wheel after taking out the rear wheel spacer, logically it must follow that if you took out the speedo drive from the front wheel and put the rear wheel spacer in there that the front wheel would still fit in and be aligned correctly. Anyone know offhand if this would be the case? Don't really feel like pulling off both wheels at the weekend just to find out that it wouldn't fit together and have to put everything back to stock.

Cheers!

Default Re: Speedo sensor rear wheel

the best person to speak to is dangerous dave, unfortunately he has not been around for while. he has had one fitted to his bike for many years, long before the claimed inventor on the link you posted (i will leave that arguement for dave)

my son currently has daves setup on his curvy, on loan. i understand the rear brake mounting bracket was ground down a little to allow to the speedo to replace the spacer that usually sits there
