Weak spark bike not starting.
Alright people hope all is well!. Anyway I am hoping someone is able to help as I have been over everything & dont want to spend money on parts that may not be the cause. I have a hond vfr 400 nc24. The bike has always been bad at starting up but the problem seemed to vanish for maybe a couple of weeks. Now its back!. I have serviced the bike & everything is great on her apart from the ignition system. The facts are their is a spark but not a great one the spark plugs are the iridium ones. the ht leads are fine the motor & relay are working. The ignitions coils are giving a bang on spec reading from the primary coils but the secondary ones are giving no reading at all!!!. The pulse generator is reading 366 ohms when its meant to be 400 - 500. But dont know if that could be ONE cause or THE cause???. I have not had the ignition control unit tested yet. I cant understand why there is a spark but no secondary reading from the coils (surely the spark would be invisible or at the least a yellow) if the coils were fried???. The fuses are fine and the engine turns over just sounds like the spark aint strong enough or they are off in their timing?. There is fuel & air going into the engine. I am at a loss so hope someone can maybe come up with a course of action. Or let me know a common problem. Cheers guys as you have been great at problem solving in the past. Ian
