Stingo you're being very selfish on that pirate ship. If you're marooned at Gatwick you can't expect Santa to delay departure for the rest of us, I want my prezzies on time and fog at Gatwick is not an acceptable excuse

Departing you should be OK, some company policies wont allow them in when the vis gets low like it has been these last few days. Planes have to be de-iced before take off in freezing conditions, I can vouch there is plenty in stock

Oooh lovely. Cheers.. .

Naturally, I'll be quite sober on the flight. Fog is indeed the enemy - death to the fog!!

Keep your eye on this link
http://weatherpixie.com/pda.php?place=EGKK
it will tell you the current weather at Gatwick, updated at 20 past and 20 to the hour.
Its a decoded plain text version of the output from the airfield met observation system. Look out for the final line reading 'Freezing Fog', that's whats going to start slowing things down a bit.

Incidentally, substitute any ICAO identity in the URL for the weather at that airport. (Well I think this website works for UK only. i.e. use EGLL for Heathrow, EGHI for Southampton)
