Default removing clocks

Building a track bike was wondering if its OK to remove the clocks. I have got one of those veypor things to replace them so the only thing i can see i'm losing is the FI light and temprature gauge. I can't imagine I will be looking at the temp gauge on a track anyway.

Is this wise, I take it the bike dosent need to clocks to run.

Also how easy is it to get rid of the iginition key barrel, I assume it can be bypassed and a resitor added for the security system?

I'm leaving the clocks on my CBR600 as it's just a trackbike, but I've gaffa-taped the speedo over even though I've removed the cable just to stop me from getting distracted. If I was racing it I'd go for the lightest thing possible, but I'd still keep a temp gauge, I can't see the weight of the clocks making much difference to a trackbike.

Is it possible to connect an aftermarket temp gauge, for some reason I just want to get rid of the normal clocks, I also hoping to take it racing at some point so I might as well get as much free weight of as possible.
