Question Wear on Rear Wheel Specers

Hi All.

I picked up a puncture on my rear a couple of weeks ago. When I removed the wheel I noticed that groves had worn in the spacers that sit between the wheel and the swingarm.

As I ride country lanes in all weathers the bike gets plastered in wet sandy grit all the time. My concern with this wear is, this crap can now get past the seal and work its way into the wheel bearings.

I am thinking about replacing the spacers and seals. I have no idea how much these parts cost, anybody got any ideas?

Has anybody else experienced this wear?

Thanks
Tim

it is normal.spacer does not turn while seal does and rubs against spacer.
flip it around or get new ones, they should be cheap.

Curvy or pointy, Tim?

We've just changed our sprocker carrier bearing and it was under a fiver for the seal and a tenner for the bearing...............that's on a Curvy.

Hi.

It's a K3. The spacer on the sprocket side has already been flipped so has grooves worn at both ends. The spacer the other side cannot be flipped.

Ok, just looked the part numbers up on Alpha Sports

http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm

Checking the prices on Robinsons site it seems it's around 11 quid for the RH spacer and around 12 quid for the LH.

Hi.

Thanks for the info. Useful sites, I've not seen these before.

Tim.
