Default oil change woops

Woops just noticed done 1200 miles and still not had oil change, got a bit carried away .

Will this mangle my engine? Hopefully not

I'm going to get it done soon, how much am i looking to pay at a dealer for an oil and filter change including filters and oil?

1,200 or 12,000?

if 1,200 don't bother yet, if it's 12,000 you need your backside kicking

Yeah 600 would have been preferable.

Nothing you can do about it now, so just go ahead and get it done asap.

Oil changes are commonly around 4000 miles - least this is what I follow, and had no problems yet Have to top up during this time aswell. Since you had a rebuild it wont be a waste of time to change the oil and filter, then you can leave it for 4000 miles as it says in the handbook

Yeeeeas...

But, it's a rebuilt engine, which means it needs to be at least partly run in. So 600 miles is going to be more valid than 4k.

The only reason the first service for an engine being 600 instead of 4000 miles is due to any metal debris being removed incase of any floating around in the oil. (Due to newly machined engine parts and the wear-in process)

With your example, as the engine has (I'm assuming) mostly already been ran in, most parts won't have any debris to release, however if any parts were replaced, then a small amount may be possible from the newly fitted items.

However, it's not likely to have caused any damage - but best to get it changed soon!

I was also thinking different fit's between replaced parts which won't have worn in the same way will have done some wearing in.

I'd say the same thing about changing the oil.
