Default Another oil change Q.......

Ok long story cut short........

I was getting water (coolant) in my oil due to failed waterpump seals. This has now been sorted.

When the shop did this they drained the oil and re filled but they didnt change the oil filter. They didnt charge me for the oil and were doing me a bit of a favour so i cant complain really.

Im still getting a creamy substance in the oil (nowhere near as much) and its obvious this is the residue from the water in oil/ filter. When I got back from a 60 mile blast the other day i took the oil filler cap off and looked inside, there was some very light fluffy creamy coloured stuff near the clutch.

Ive got a new filter and some silkolene oil. My question is shall I get the engine really hot before draining or just drain it cold?? I know this has been covered before but i think my circumstances are slightly different.

Thanks in advance for your expert help

I'd say it be right, just do it with it a bit warm, or do it cold and let it drain for longer.

I always say do it when it is warm, the oil is thinner and will drain easier. I must admit I tend to do mine while its still a bit hot, just remember the oil catch try!

Yeah, manual recommends it's done hot too. Seems like an excellent way to burn the **** out of yourself but it's easy enough to avoid.
