Default Could the SV side stand break off

Saw a dealer pull a bike out of the line up by swinging it and pivoting it
on the side stand. How much abuse will the stand take? Have seen bikers sitting on their bike held up only by the side stand.

Anyone heard of a side stand or lug breaking off.

not heard of one coming off, but I'm sure someone will have done. I to sit on the bike while it is just supported by the side stand, not had any problems yet. (now I've done it)

Oh, im sure it could break off, but only if there was damage to it.

I leap all over my bike when im locking it up, nothing happened to it yet. The stands are wonderfully over engineered

Ledgend has it that stands on certain ducati models have a rather substantial amount of flex in them

After cringing watching Yorkie Chris turn a bike on a sidestand a full 360 over and over and over again...I have now been convinced that they are made out of some alien superstrenghened metal

If it can stand with me sittin on it putting that much weight (and by eck its a lot of weight) through it, I think I'm with Dizzy on this, they are made of abnormal metal
