Default Leaking petrol after a drop

I dropped my SV for the first time (mounting the curb during a U-turn in order to park on the pavement and the engine stalled) today. Once I turned the engine off and got it up again, I noticed the smell of petrol coming from the right-hand side of the engine, plus little pools of petrol or oil in the gutter where the bike had landed on its right side.

I've been over the right-hand side and checked for any leaks or cracks and can't find any. The bike took some convincing to start up again but eventually did so after judicious use of the choke and some throttle and now runs fine.

Any ideas where the petrol's coming from? Bike's an 01 S.

If the bikes not leaking it probably came out of the cap at the top. Dont worry if its not leeking. If it is look under the tank to see if the pipes are connected. Also look for any little holes in the tank

As said, check the pipes etc, when I had my off back in January last year, fuel was coming from the side, I was worrying that it would cost loads to fix and maybe even catch fire whilst lay in the middle of the road, it was only because it was lay on its side that the fuel escaped aparently. Keep an eye on things, check out all pipes and all of fuel system just incase there is somewhere it is escaping.

When the bikes on its side all the fuel can run out of the carbs, hence why it takes a bit longer to start up afterward as it takes time to fill the bowls back up to a level which will sustain it running.

Thanks for all the advice. I've been over all the pipes and lifted the tank up etc. and it looks like everything's intact. Guess it came out of the filler cap or something. Lets hope I don't fluff it and drop it again - will dropping your bike ever cease to be embarrassing?!
