Default idle speed ?

i normally set my idle to around 1200-1250 i was taking a quick butch through the service manual, and it says it should be around 1300 give or take 100rpm. But every time i go to the garage for a service they set it to around 1100 rpm which they say it should be set at but i find when the bike is cold and the auto choke turns off my idle falls below 1000 and feels like the bike is going to die and if you rev it just kills the engine. what setting does everyone else have on theres?? and is it better to have it at around 1300/1400 or closer to 1k

If the idle is set too low then the bike will shake more than usual when idling (because the motors struggling). Also a low idling will cause the bike to use more fuel (counter intuitive I know but the engines have to work harder not to stall).

Why not try upping the idle to what is recommended and see if its any better.

I personaly would say that a idle of 1100 is only good for the summer...

Typically you set your idle when the engine is warmed up. Thus if you have it set at 1200, when you start it on a cold morning and turn off the choke, because it's not warmed up, it may wobble around 1000 or less, maybe stall. In that case, until the temps warm up outside, set the idle around 1400 as suggested above (while engine is warm), then at a cold start they should at least hover around 1100 or so, or at least not stall.

I had the same problem after I had mine serviced. It stalled twice on my 1st time to work. I just wacked the idle up to about 1400 with choke 1200 without. runs fine now, no issues at all.

Suzuki service put it to 1300. I lowered it a touch to 1250. is running fine for the winter. Might lower it in summer

I thought the manual said about 1400 rpm?
That's what I have mine is set to anyway and seems spot on.
