Talking Aren't Police great?

Filtered to the front of the traffic lights this morning to find a Police bike on my right, so looked to my left & exchanged looks with the bike to my left to say "oh great, now we're going to be stuck behind him "
But thankfully the copper was able to point out just how seriously my speedo over reads, apparantly when it says 45 I could only have been doing 30 .
So, lesson learnt, & at the next lights he refuses to filter to the front, so I'm away

yes the police were alright this weekend, i went past an unmarked volvo doing a 'U' turn something slightly above 90 on a dual carriageway. obviously slowed down straight away, but me and my mate were convinced we were going to get pulled, but he never even followed us!

Must be a tough job having to decide who gets it and who doesn't, a bit like god hehe. Have to say I've had my share of better moments more than bad. I was coming home at about 90+ in the middle of the night once and started coming up on a 'flying wardrobe' T5 Volvo and thought I was going to get ripped, I could harldy sit on his bumper on the deserted motorway when it's obvious what speed I must have been doing. I slowed down while deciding but he waved me on so off I went

I have had similar, it is obvious what you are doing is safe, you are competent etc. Then most of the time they want an easy life, to enjoy their job etc. As I have said previously, they waved me goodbye after both of us doing 135. We started at 90, they overtook me I matched them for some miles, they waved me past, overtook, got faster, waved me past again and generally enjoyed 50 miles of playing on a boring motorway.

Of course there are the ones who would get perverse enjoyment from nicking you. They do exist. However, a good copper would get more respect from educating than punishing.

I've had two bike cops recently tailgating me on a motorway when I was overtaking lorries in the other lane. One was jumping up and down on his bike so it was flashing at me. No blues and twos, just a **** in a yellow coat. The other one just sat on my bumper then disappeared at what must have been approaching 100mph.

Whilst I like them being lenient and using common sense, I can't have any respect for them when they themselves can't demonstrate any respect for the laws.

Best I had was coming upto a loooooooooog queue of traffic up a dual carrige way. Getting ready to start filtering and there's a bike cop behind me. So I politly pull up at the back of the queue, he pulls along side, lifts his flip top lid up and says "go for it lad, it's a nice day - no point in sitting here if you ain't paid for it".

Made me smile all they way home.

Makes sense, why sit at the back of the queue? In fact why do anything differently just because there's a cop on a bike behind you, they ride bikes to don't they? My biggest issues have always been with cops in cars who just don't understanding safe riding. Or are you suggesting you normally ride illegally?

I filtered through a 20-odd mile traffic jam on the Autoroute near Lyon, to find the Gendarmarie finishing cleaning up after an accident. There were about 20 bikes at the head of the queue. When they took the 'road closed' tape down one French car started to move off, he was halted by the police who waved all the bikes off first.

Next 30 miles of motorway was empty except for bikes burning fuel as fast as they could! Took me an hour and 120 miles to empty my tank (was not an SV)

Clearly not, if you had been it would only have taken 30 minutes (the tankful, not the 120 miles!)
