Default When to sell my SV1000 now or spring?

OK the other half want shot of the bike (long story) and who am I to agrue. Question is will I get a better price now for a 2004 28k naked SV1000 when the weather is about to turn bad or am I better off selling in the spring when the bike market is more in favour of the seller but the bike will be 6 months older.

Thoughts?

Oh and if you've got a couple of grand with nothing better to spend it on, drop me a note. Could do you a deal on a Sv1000

Someone seriously looking for a SV1000 will snap one up at anytime, the market is still quite good at the moment. Between now and spring you really aren't gonna lose any money as long as the bike is in the same condition and rough mileage.

I'd advertise it now, and wait for a offer I'd be happy with, even if it takes til Spring.

I'd also give it a really really good clean, cos yours is filthy!(only joking about the filth, but it's not Kwak, can eat off the downpipes clean) before taking photos or any prospective buyer visits.

I have got a couple of grand tucked away in a Swiss bank account along with my gold bullion, but I don't want a SVthou.

Unfortunately the "Every time you go out I'm worried sick you'll not come back and I don't want to bring the kids up on my own" Is kind of a hard position to argue against.

Done my IAM, am an IAM observer so pretty much as safe as I can be short of not riding the bike so the only option left is to not ride the bike At least for a few years then go get a blade or something with all the brownie points I'll have saved up while getting in her way at weekends.

With the weather we've been having at the mo. I'd be inclined to advertise it now and see if it'll go. If not then I'd probably keep hold of it till the spring and then have another go at selling it then.

I hate that arguement, theres no justification for it really unless your a complete nutcase ().....its something you enjoy.

Take her out on it, show her how non dangerous it is, job done.

Have you had a fall in the past or know of someone that has given her reason to think this?

It's the only thing I do apart from work and family. And I get huge enjoyment out of it. Her father spent 3 years in hopsital from a bike crash and has one working arm and one working leg now as a result. My father has a mostly plastic hand from a bike accident.

Problem is the only bikes you notice on the road as a car driver are the idiots doing the dodgy overtakes and 80mph down the residential roads. And a majority (no stats but gut feel) of biker incidents could be avoided if the rider rode within their limits ( Single vehicle accidents) and looked further ahead when in traffic (most SMIDSYs). But I could be super safe, riding well within my limits, and still be taken out by the actions of someone else that I had not predicted or the bit of diesel in just the wrong place.

I could just as easily get run down crossing the road or stabbed by a chav who wanted my phone. Bike bit is under my control though. I can choose to stop riding.

I know it's an illogical argument, but at the end of the day riding a bike safely (like wot I duz) is not as safe as not riding a bike. And I don't need the grief each time I get home.

Think I'll take up golf or dogging instead.
