Morning Guy's n Gal's
I have searched the forums but nothing has really come up regarding this problem and I would like some advice Right just before I get started I have a (99) curvy with a properly ajusted clutch ie push rod and cable. Including this I have recently fitted a new worm drive and adjusted all correctly. Here's the problem. Bike in neutral to fire it up and get it warmed up a little. Clutch fine nothing seems wrong. Place bike in first gear with the clutch pulled in and as soon as this is done it feels like the clutch is draggin a little still and it tries to move the bike forward very slowly (as if you where slipping the clutch a very small amount, id say 5%). As I let out the clutch to engage the plates it stays the same (about 5%) until a normal biting point where it starts to come in fully. Is there any way of getting rid of this "drag" from the clutch. I was thinking it could maybe be the spring that seperate the plates are worn/shot would this be right? Thanks in advance for your help. |

I had the same problem and sort of solved it (after chaninging every part...twice with no success) I popped in my old clutch plates and the dragging stopped.
So 1st off, does it have aftermarket clutch plates in there? Secondly, are all the steels in the clutch flat and not warped, or blue in colour? Thirdly, does the 1st clutch plate you come to have 'rubber bands' around some of the tabs? If yes to all, then i would replace the clutch plats and steels. I had an EBC clutch and this is waht i beleieve was causing the problem. However, my old plates are past thier sell by date and at over £100 for a new set, it will have to wait. |

Iv not actually checked the plates side of the clutch. I'm starting to think that's where the problems are coming from.
Just hope that it's only the plates I would need to replace, I'm trying to save up! LOL Is there anything else I should try? |

I have the same problem. It's far better with lower levels of oil in but probably warped clutch plates. Is me ignoring it going to be an issue?

I'm guessing the next answer is going to be stop messing about and check the plates etc
![]() I will have to get it on the side stand and check everything is present and correct. I will do this and get back to you all if I find out what it was. Any other suggestions before the weekend? |

Just to be sure, does the dragging effect go away when the bike is warmed up? i.e. when you have ridden it a little and made a few gear changes. My bike's clutch drags from cold even if i leave the engine idling at standstill while i faff about getting ready, but after a few gear changes (and therefore use of the clutch) its fine.

That's the one thing I forgot to mention!
The problem says even when the bike has been run for around 8miles (journey home from work). It's just annoying more than anything else. |

Am I right in saying you're supposed to leave the new clutch plates in oil over night?
