Default Why are razors so hideously expensive

I've lost my washbag, it fell out the car some place on the M5. Well, between Falmouth and here, anyway - it's a complete mystery where it is - if anyone finds it, please post it on So off to Boots - razors, blades and gel are so damn pricey!! They're only a bit of plastic and steel, and some gel stuff FFS!! Nearly £10 for a Gillette razor, and as much again for some blades, and £3 for a can of gel... cheapskate me did the Boots own brand option, Boots Hydo razor £2.93 and shave gel £1.36. If they don't work then I'll take em back.

Wifey always complains about the price of STs etc but men have every bit as expensive a time in the toiletries department.

Do it old skool. Get the powder stuff it lasts for ages!!

Or do what I do and don't shave its even cheaper. I just trim it down to boyishly good looking stubble every now and then

It isn't called the Razor and Blades business model for nothing.

See here for more information.

You can thank Mr Gillette for the fact that an ink cartridge costs the same (or more) than a new printer.

I've had two razors in about 8 years. One was a Mach3 (the one with a battery) which was free from tesco for some reason, the other was half price and is a Wilko 5 blade thing. King of Shaves gel lasts forever i've had one bottle for over 2 years O.O (lazy and frugal)

I used to use Gillette mach 3 razors but now use Teco own brand - Matrix i think it's called - cheap triple blade razors that do the same job.

My grooming device cost £30.

In about 1997. Shave head every fortnight or so. Simple.

£10 is a bit steep. Think i paid around £5 for my gillette fusion with 3 spare blades.
The cheap option is to grow a beard

Do you even need to shave? you're 12!

I'm lazy and use a Philishave electric razor. I still have a Mach 3 which I use for emergencies when the head has worn and needs replacing on the leccy or I forget to charge it.
