Default Gixer 750 k7 - first two day review

Sold my SV on friday night (was actually quite sad to see it go) and picked up the gixer on saturday morning.

The ride home consisted of 2hrs on the motorway. I was actually very surprised it was more comfortable than my SV, back did not hurt, **** did not hurt, for all I have read about supersport bikes being uncomfortable I found it to be very comfortable and had no problems at all. When I got home I felt fine and could easily have ridden for a few more hours. Fuel wise I got 55 mpg, not that its really that important but nice to know, and I was not hanging around for most of the ride. Then I had to go to a wedding reception so that cut the riding short for the day .

Today, went for a spin around some twisties, firstly the speed is amazing the thing accelerates like a missile. I found the engine to have more torque than I expected and it pulled from low down in the rev range even at 2-3k revs it pulled extremely fast so you do not need to rev it to death to make it fly. I spent most of the time just in second gear as it has so much range (from 20 to 110mph - I read that somewhere). The second thing that hits you is the noise from the exhaust, the bike only has a standard can on but it sounds amazing and kept me smiling all day. Handling was very good as expected and the bike felt so solid compared to the SV. After 2-3 hours on the bike today I cant fault a single thing and it is 100% better than I thought it would be.

I took the girlfriend for a hour and she prefered it so the SV, she sat higher and could see over my head but found she had less wind hitting her head so was more comfortable. Riding with a pillion was fine and easier than the SV and the bike just seemed to cope better.

I will miss the SV as it is an excellent bike. But looking forward to spending more time getting the know the gsxr better.

Its a 750 K7 - R&G crash bungs all around (frame, bar ends etc) double bubble screen, in mint condition not a scratch anywhere. Datatool S4-C1 alarm, 3200 miles.

dude that is one cool bike! 150cc more than mine yup that standard exhaust is a peach ain't it apparently right on the edge for the noise limits for a road exhaust! since my last post my gixer has had its rev counter needle more clockwise than before and xxx in second is very achievable! enjoy your new bike and your new found confidence that come as standard with the gixer handling

Nice bike Nik, I'm sure you'll enjoy it a fair bit more

I bet you're glad you went for the 750 now you've got it.

They really are brilliant bikes if i could afford the insurance, and not loose sleep at night worrying about it being nicked, i would happily have one. Hell, I'd even annoy you all and put a topbox on it hahahahaha!!!

My dad's one has 9000 miles on it, and he has only noticed one fault; the exhaust valve sticking and making the FI warning light come on...this is a bit common, since the valve is underneath the bike, reasonably exposed. Keep it in wd40 or something though and I doubt there'll be a problem

Sounds good!
In what way did it feel more solid than the SV? Had you modified the SVs suspension at all?

love those, supposed to be cheaper to insure than the 600 and only 1mph off the pace of a 1000.

Not sure how accurate that is but enjoy it all the same its a very nice bike mr.
