See this quite a lot - but why do people do it? I've heard a number of offerings, none of them really plausible, such as:
Do you have a band on your reservoir? Why? What does the org think? |

Probably another racer style thing?
Believe racers used to use these when British singles were all the rage & vibration would shake everything so hard that fluid leapt out of the breather. The sponge muff would keep it off paintwork etc.

I thought it was just numptys wanting to complete the sportsbike look. However your top one might well prompt me to do it, hopefully the sock would absorb a fair bit of the fluid in a spill.

If your bike is so bashed up the fluid reservoir breaks, chances are that a bit of brake fluid damage will be fairly insignificant in the repair bill...

Apparently racers use it for reason 1 on your list. I have one (or had, it was a free one with a magazine and the elastic's gone on it now) because the racers have them.

A band?
Rubber band? eh? oh you mean one of those kind of fabric glove things? That'll be to keep it warm then ![]() And no I don't have one..too chav. Besides one of my reservoirs don't even have the metal clip to hold the lid on....somewhere in YCs garage I believe
