hi guys
i've got a strange problem with the bike (99 model). I have noticed on a couple of occasions that one of the cylinders seems to cut out. it only occurs when i have been going along at 9k revs contantly for a period of time and then try to raise the revs. there is a brief loss of power (similar to a wet front cylinder problem but doesn't seem nearly as severe) but it dissapears when i open the throttle further. what could be the problem here? is it likely to be electrical (e.g. sparks, HT leads), carburettor or something else? it only last a second or two, has only happened twice in the last month (use the bike daily) and doesn't cause too many problems but it is unsettling on the bike and me. any thoughts? |

Good morning.
It would most likely be a carburetor issue of some sort. How long is it since they were balanced? Or indeed a general engine service was carried out. Minor sticking of the choke plunger could mean that there is a tiny excess of fuel entering the cylinder, which takes a second or two to clear. Cheers. |

Aye a good removal of carbs and clean of plungers seems to have sorted my bike out with it's misfiring problems.

I had a similar issue on my curvy, it was a losse connection to one of the coils, tightening it up sorted it out. At first i thought it was carbs, but I was wrong.
