Taxing bike - insurance database
Renewed cover last week, still can't tax bike as insurance database not updated. I'm concerned I'll get a fine from DVLA. Anyone know how long it takes to update a computer?

Depends on your insurer Ed. Some will update it almost immediately others seem less capable. You can still take your paperwork to the Post Office and get a tax disc immediately.

Quite quickly - I wasn't on once, but a quick call to the insurer and my bike popped up almost immediately. I "think" most big insurers update the db overnight.

When we insure vehciles at work, our broker have 14 days to get it onto the database
I don't know if this is in our contract or guidelines set |

Generally they are very quick to do it but it can take up to 14 days. And thanks, you have just reminded me that my bike tax ran out a couple of days ago!

And failure to display a valid tax disc is an absolute offence with no leeway ( in England )
