I am not sure if this is correct place to post but here goes.
My new Gladius is the fist bike I have ever had without centrestand so I suspect I will need some form of paddock stand for chain adjustment etc With a little searching I see that you can pay a lot or a little. some have rests for under swing-arms and some have hooks with hold on to bobbins fixed to the holes in swing-arms. what is the general view on this. J&S in Hamilton have a £20 rear and front stands. I do not expect to make excessive use of stand but only if my bad luck on punctures changes, so maybe this one will do. All suggestions will be gratefully accepted. SMcG |

I would go for the hooks and the bobbins.
A bit more fiddly trying to engage the hooks when you are doing it yourself but more secure than the rests.

I'd be careful with the stand at J&S - I'm sure I was told by one of the other gladius owners on here that they tried one of those stands with a handily placed demo bike and found it not to work. Try before you buy on this one, I'd say.
RiDE magazine did do a group test this month as well, but my copy is hiding somewhere so I couldn't tell you what they'd recommended. |

I've used a rear stand with the rubber cups on the curvy for ten years now. So, i've had a bit of use out of it! But, you really need two people around hoisting/dropping it off again. This is far from ideal, and secondly, it won't fit the Tuono swingarm. Or the R1 before that.
I'm now searching for an Abba stand. Easy one-man operation, it fits into the swingarm pivot of either bike and is extremely stable. It is futureproof if you get another bike -maybe needs an adapter kit is all. Yes, it's nearly £100 but peace of mind and all that. |

I bought one of these from eBay and it was delivered in 3 days for me, I use it with the hooks and put bobbins on my bike.
Have no problems using it on my own either, bike goes onto the sidestand with a brick under the sidestand to get it virtually upright. Place hooks under bobbins and push up. Getting it down, sidestand down, no need for the brick this time, stand on the left of the bike and support weight with left hip/arm, right arm slowly raises the stand and then ease the bike down. Best trying this with a mate standing by just incase for the first couple of times! p.s. if you're going to buy one from that seller, buy one that's listed in Euro's like this one. It's the same item, but saves you almost £6 because of the prices he lists at in £/€. |

the front paddock stand from j&s dosn't fit the front forks on my gsx650f so be careful and try it before you get it.
the rear one is fine and does a good job if all you want it for low maintenance. |

I'd see if you can pick up a secondhand Micron rear stand and go for hooks. A set of R&G bobbins or "Cotton Reels" will give your swingarm a wee bit of extra protection should the bike it ever find its way beyond a certain angle....... Good sturdy stands and the hooks are very secure. Just to confuse, I can put both the curvy and pointy SVs up on the same stand (single handed) using the swingarm pads without any problem. It's all a matter of confidence and experience.
