Well I know there have no doubt been a few threads about this but I thought more upto date info would be better for this one...
Soooo im wondering if there are any decent small camcorders that can handle bumps and fast movement and is cheapish (under £100 preferably). I dont care if its 480p tbh as its mostly for youtube and 480p is good enough. Cheers all! *EDIT* Will mostly be using it on the Mountain bike not Motorbike (hence the bump stabilisation). Get CCD not CMOS
To be fair even my ccd one looked like the other video, ie blurry from vibes - minus the cmos wobbley shutter. and a helmet mount to stob the vibration, tried all sorts with a tank mount, was never happy. Last edited by beabert; 30-09-10 at 03:48 PM. |

CCD does seem to have the edge there! Im actually wanting to use it more for the Push rod (show going down hills in the peak district) but might have a go on the motorised version to see how it turns out.
Cheers for the input!!! ![]() What camera you use? |

Panasonic SD9, its a small fullsize camcorder, no external mic input though. I think all new reasonbly priced cams use cmos with rolling shutter?

I just bought a Sony DSC H55 compact and that has a 14.1MP CCD. Video quality (720p as well) imo is excellent but its a little bit expensive to damage on the bikes...
I did say £100 dude, that Panasonic SD9 is about £400!? Problem is you get what you pay for and for good image stability you have to pay I guess. ![]() Last edited by ThEGr33k; 01-10-10 at 07:56 AM. |

I might see about getting a cheaper compact that can do 720p then. I know there are some of those drop/water/dust proof ones. Bit big but oh well.

Its like you said, resolution is nothing without a large aperature and good encoding. Id rather a high quality, lower resolution cam, but they are always larger, ie bbc stye lol.

There is the Fujifilm x10, a little over £100 but my bro has one so can test a little and see what I find. Problem now though is I have no idea where I might manage to get some sort of mount for it... Dont suppose anyone can help there?
