Default If your having a blast, open your eyes.

So I went for a bimble today, on my jacks so ended up going on the Keasden road past bluepete's grandpa's bench heading towards Clapham.

As I was going down hill and had about a miles visibility down the single track road, imagine my look of horror as 4 R1/Blade types topped the crest of a little hill side by side to find me going in the opposite direction on my own side of the road doing about 85.

We all put a fair amount of rubber on the road and passed each other close but without incident.

so lesson leaned, just because I had seen them about 1 minute before we passed. don't assume they must have seen me.

Did you stop and say hello to the old man?

Or has the mirror been blown away

didn't stop as there were half a dozen cars up there with people picnicing. Having to force my way past cyclists, cars with push bikes etc near stocks. I didn't want them passing me and holding me back etc.

It was bad enough on that right hander where the little chapel is at Stocks. I was struggling to overtake a car with a trailer carrying half a dozen bikes that was crawling and blocking the road when the push bikes try undertaking me on the right hand bend.

Wondered about the mirror crack, OK I am now officially old as it took me a minute. Git.

This is always one of my major concerns when over-taking on some roads "what if I meet a a bike coming the other way, NOT expecting me"

Glad everyone was ok tho, could have been a bit messy.

The problem is that even though I was positioned correctly, at least 2 oncoming bikes were not.

It is single track and a bit see saw like. At the right points you can see for miles, but you cannot see what is in the dips. Those that have ridden there will know it is good fun, unfortunately it can also be hoon inducing. The 4 oncoming bikes assumed they had a clear road. (Yes I know the ass u me crap)

Until they had passed me, I was in the same mind frame as experienced with stupid car drivers. You never expect it will be another bike that takes you out. Today it was blinking close to being.
