Default srad shock change, battery mod, whats best?

hi all, read through lots of the shock change threads and topics, but not many people seem to have gone for the srad gsxr rear shock, my slim size means this should be ok.

The issue is the large reservoir for the shock, it seems to touch the battery even when i lower the battery tray on some ally spacers I popped inbetween the tray and the subframe.

I`d like to keep my battery roughly in the same place, but even raising it wont avoid the reservoir, any pics from anyone whose gone this route, whats best, new battery strap and lower the battery?

Thanks, Lee

It's been a while, think I had to lower it on spacers to change angle and raise it for clearance too, however I can't remember 100%.

Best solution would be a nice LiFe4Po ultra light battery from maviryk or turntech or something

Chopped out the chunk of the battery support which fouls the res,
filled the other bit with something to prevent the battery from dropping down onto the res then cut up a sponge to support the battery once I put it back in the same place only now its on its side rather than the normal orentation (its also a smaller battery than standard).

I cant take pics as I dont own the bike anymore but thats defo what I did, when I did it although Im not sure if cableties were also involved.

As above i cut a large chunk out the battery box/tool kit bit which otherwise would foul the resevoir. My battery actually compresses the small peice of foam attatched to the seat. I have to hold the seat down to bolt it on. Its a snug fit.

Will have another look at the battery tray this week and see how I can try out some of the ideas suggested, although a smaller battery would be nice, or to rearrange battery/fuses/relay location a little.

Thanks, Lee

while you've got the back end in pieces it'd be rude not to re-route all that messy standard wiring. You can actually make the space under the pillion seat useable dont you know

I just bought one of these which is a bit thinner than stock and I'm hoping will slip behind the res of my gixer shock

True, but the pointy light cuts into that useable space a fair bit, i`ll have to take a piccy tomorrow to show how much. Will need to find a home for the elec box and the wiring needs connecting up in there too.

Thanks for the link nobbylad, youve got a different gsxr shock to my 750 srad havent you, how does the reservoir size compare?
