looked up the price at robinsons foundry and £100 is the going rate,so whats up with the old rings,if youve done less then a 100k i would say they shouldn't be worn out

Buy a micrometer and follow the guide in the manual to measure them before you shell out hard cash.

yeah im going to measure them first just thought id look for some prices at same time and its done about 35000 miles but its going to be a track bike so though it best to fully re-build it before hand

my old ganddad always told me if it aint broke dont fix it,if it runs and dont use oil,and lets face it 35k aint far for a modern engine, most engines these days if looked after and have regular oil changes should last well over 100k

Wemoto dont sell them.
Compression/leak test would tell the full story but yes if your rebuilding especially at that mileage id look at new rings/stem seals/cotters. They are prone to leak by slightly on the valves too when revved hard so its worth lapping in the valves properly too. Piston ring sets I can do for £41.73 per set with org discount. You would also need 4 circlips total £4.57 for all four. Postage would be £3.75 Last edited by SV650Racer; 12-12-11 at 03:06 PM. |
