Default Orange Live Box Help

I've borrowed a work laptop but the cats are obsessed with chewing the dongle so I'd like to connect this laptop to my Livebox wirelessly but it won't work.

Mr LPH's PC is all linked up so I must have managed to sort it out once before.

I've put the box into pairing mode and tried the WEP key typed several different ways. Each time it says problem with the profile.

Clearly I'm some sort of techno numpty who should just stick to baking cookies.

What am I doing wrong?

(And if anyone posts that it's got something to do with my age I'll come and run you over with my mobility scooter)

Next check is try logging your mobile into the Wireless and see if it connects.

If its a works one make sure the internet setting are DCHP and not fixed address (most companies use fixed IP's for office based machines)

Did you type in the actual WEP key (lots of letters and numbers) or the Passphrase? You could try logging into your router/live box from your PC and check if it's using a WEP key or not if you haven't already.

this is the same thing essentialy, WEP had the ability to be setup to work in HEX/ASCII mode for the key (it is one or the other), this will normaly be worked out correctly by the client system though as the HEX key always had to be a fixed length vs the ASCII key.

Can't remember the terminology exactly but I had problems with connecting something wireless when typing in the Passphrase. It would never accept it so I had to manually type in the full WEP key.

That's what got me stumped for ages until I tried manually typing it in. Might be worth a try.
