As title says, I want to remove them so I can thoroughly clean, and refurbish them!
Pointy K6! Thank you guys (Anyone know if the Haynes Manual would have this kind of info, so maybe I can just buy it and stop pestering everyone on here ![]() |

Yes! Get a Haynes. It has everything you need in mate and it's essential if you're gonna do stuff like this. I know I've definitely followed the steps in there to take my wheels off when I got the new tyres.

Awesome buddy, thanks.
I downloaded one and had a quick look through it, but it didn't look like it had info like this... possibly because it wasn't haynes! :O |

Also I don't have the original tool kit from the bike, would that be a problem?
I see the manual (that I downloaded) says "slightly loosen the axel using the special tool" What special tool is it referring to? |

I never used the original tool kit. There aren't any special tools required. Just a big f-off bar to get that main wheel nutt off and some other spanners/sockets to remove the rest. Mind you, I have a curvy, so perhaps they changed some bolts for pointies? Seems unlikely though.
Edit: Definitely worth spending a few quid on a proper haynes too. I've downloaded manuals before but the haynes rarely seems to miss anything that those online manuals do, plus there's no substitute for loads of pictures showing exact where you stick your screwdriver. ![]()

You can get a 15 piece set on ebay for roughly the same price as just the single bit in Halfords ![]() EDIT: And some non permanent threadlock for refitting the front calipers. Last edited by Mighty Boosh; 15-01-12 at 09:01 PM. |

Thread lock is basically a glue you stick on your bolts which makes sure they don't come loose. I'm guessing its available at halfords or an ebay job. I didn't use any when I removed the front wheel, but Mr Haynes does suggest you do. Don't use at your own risk. I may check how tight my front caliper bolts are before I next ride.
