Default Snorkel removal or air box mods?

Has anyone tried running with a modified air box or removed the snorkel entry into the air box....the entry seems very small for a machine thats trying to make 70+bhp.

All noise unless you've spent loadsa dosh upgrading other components I think. Nice induction noise but that's about it.

I removed it once, then it was all pop, uneven running, stall at idle ........ stuck it back on & problem fixed.

I removed the lid from my SV1K and love the induction noise. No discernible difference in running as far as I can tell, so the loss of a couple of hundred grammes in weight is worth it for me!
